bittorrent client for the console
Hi,
Would it be possible to get rtorrent, perhaps with a colour patch? I tend to use the console a lot with the weak laptops I have, and rtorrent is very lightweight. And although rtorrent is a little hard to figure out at first, I've read that the colour patch apparently makes it more user friendly (I haven't tried any of the colour patches myself). Also, if the version of Transmission available for Deli(cate) doesn't support magnet links, then maybe rtorrent will? EDIT--Oh, I just noticed that nl2stk was working on ctorrent....but I guess without success? |

RE: bittorrent client for the console
I've introduced ctorrent-dnl, but it very probably doesn't support magnet links ... I remember Theo mentioning that and trying to introduce transmission ....
So .... we need to look at the transmission build too ... Easton recently shared his PKGBUILDs .... It seems rTorrent supports magnet links too ... I'll try to look at that. |

RE: bittorrent client for the console
I also got Transmission working under Delicate, post here. Transmission also has a CLI interface.

I like rtorrent because it has an ncurses interface, but I don't think transmissioncli has. Maybe I'll try again to get transmissioncli running, because this version (1.80) could work just fine for everything. If I get it going, then maybe I could write a quick HOW-TO to help others get started.... EDIT-actually the transmission-daemon does have an ncurses interface, transmission-remote-cli. |

Bittorrent clients with ncurses, not CLI:
BTG https://btg.berlios.de/ Image: https://developer.berlios.de/dbimage.php?id=3413 Dependencies: https://btg.berlios.de/howto.html#required-software ncurses UI for transmission: screenshots: https://github.com/fagga/transmission-re...creenshots dependencies: https://github.com/fagga/transmission-re...quirements Arch linux: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/commu...emote-cli/ Bittornado should have a ncurses UI, didn't find UI Web: http://www.bittornado.com/ I don't know if it is still developed, forum is quite old (2011). |
