RE: Testers wanted
(10-26-2011 01:48 PM)kpelc Wrote: Today i start the testing Welcome! :] I smell problems in case of the second computer. It has a SATA controler and if it can't be switched to a Legacy mode, then the installer will fail. I have to check, what SATA controllers are supported by the latest 2.4.37.11 kernel and create a new kernel for the installer. Your hardware is simply not old enough for this distro ![]() I was thinking about a secondary project called "DeLi(cate)+" based on the 2.6.x or 3.x series kernel. And that should support newer computers too. But the question is if it has a sense to do such distro. There is a lot of distros targeted to P3 and newer. DeLi(cate) is mainly for enthusiasts and collectors of old hardware, for computers given to children or for people in poor countries, where they can get Pentium I/II PCs for free. You can try ConnochaetOS. It's an official continuation of the former DeLi project, based on the 2.6.x/3.x kernels. I have just one warning for You. It's a LIBRE distro -> the kernel intentionally disables all hardware with non-free firmware (and that's often a problem of old HW). Even if I'm against such approach, I try to contribute to ConnochaetOS too. |

That could be ideal candidate. I'm curious, what PCMCIA controller is there. Siemens could need an external PCMCIA driver. I was about to build it, but then somehow postponed the build. We'll see ... I would appreciate any feedback. |
