Good, good, good! :] Ok ok ....first clean the golden medals in your room and then make a set of amazing photos of that shiny little thingy ![]() .... and now the players .... the VLC player from the DeLi(cate) repository is inherited from the DeLi Linux 0.8 and is for console only and unstable. The menu entry is invalid, since it doesn't start xterm. So ... the VLC player still needs our attention .... I'll try to upgrade it a bit or introduce Mplayer ... you can use xmms, cplay, mp3blaster, mpg123, soundtracker, .... maybe more. ... anywayyy ... I quickly checked our repo and there was really no CD player .... I just built cdcd player. It's for console only, but works well. I'll also try to build any graphical CD player ... still not decided what application could be the best one for X. Any tips? cdcd player has it's own menu entry even if it is a text player ... it needs to be configured after the very first start (usually the default values should work) and then it stores the configuration in your home directory (the file is called .cdcdrc) ... it supports several commands .... try help ... tracks ... play ... next ... stop ... exit .... etc,etc |

RE: Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX
Hmm, I will check it.
In this moment I'm installing Debian Testing in another partition, let's see the performance. For CD Player I like the one that includes Wary Puppy. Charlie |

RE: Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX
I have a problem, I succesfully installed Debian, but now the stupid GRUB2 don't auto detect Delicate and now I can't boot it.
What I need to add to the grub configuration file? Is Grub2, Delicate is in the second partition of the only one hard disk. Please, help. Charlie |

If the second partition is created as primary, then try to add the following in the /etc/grub.d/40_custom script: menuentry "DeLi(cate)" { set root=(hd0,1) linux /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda2 } ... and then call update-grub ... it should generate a new grub configuration file for you ... |

RE: Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX
Nevermind, I uninstalled Debian, very slow.
But now I have a problem. The system detects the CD-Drive, but now sr0 don't exist. There is nothing in /dev/scsi, it seems that NinjaSCSI don't exist. I tried to add the next thing to /etc/pcmcia/config (I previously edit this file to get working my Orinoco card): Code: device "nsp_cs" Charlie Oh, I don't see it your other post. I don't remember the name of the player, but it seems that Audacious do the job. Is a music player and audio-cd player. It seems that in Puppy Linux the multimedia player are mplayer. Charlie PD: I found the code in http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/...jaSCSI.txt |

You're changing everything so quickly while not telling us what steps you've done, that I don't manage to sense what's going on :] So ... I guess you reinstalled DeLi(cate), because you killed Debian and there was no bootloader installed on the harddrive, am I right? There was no need for reinstallation. Module nsp_cs is a part of the default kernel package and should be located in: /lib/modules/2.4.37.11/kernel/drivers/scsi/pcmcia/nsp_cs.o If the file is missing, then your installation is incomplete. If the file is present, then the module is not missing. I don't know what the default device name for nsp_cs is, but usually the CDROM is reachable under /dev/cdroms/cdrom0, so check if the file exists ... Btw. is the PCMCIA boot configured (pcmciaconfig) and the PCMCIA daemon running? (pcmcia start) And now ... you say there was a need to edit the pcmcia config file in order to make your orinoco card working ... do you remember what changes you've made? If there's a need to edit the pcmcia configuration, then it would be nice to tell us about that ... we could make the change permanent to possibly help others who encounter the same issue. |

RE: Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX
I do the thing that says here.
Let me check the module and the cdrom0, but I see that in the SCSI folder there's nothing, when previously it have a folder, and in the folder have one folder and so. Charlie |

RE: Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX
There is not cdrom0, and the module exist.
However, I see when I boot with the CD Player connected some errors refered to the module. Also I have the same problems when I do "modprobe nsp_cs". The PCMCIA services are succesfully activated. Also I have an observation, it delays a lot to appear my USB in fdisk. Also, the web browser sucks, I install Dillo, but don't open, when I execute them via console, it says that can't be displayed because the color depth (24 bits). I upload the output of dmesg and modprobe. Charlie |
