Torrents and ports
I've made a PKGBUILD for ctorrent (light torrent client for the console), but it seems that I've got a problem. I assume that the ports are blocked in Delicate, because transmission doesn't work either. The ports in the router are open and the Ubuntu machine works.. so that shouldn't be the problem.
I know that the TCP ports 6881 to 6889 should be open, but how do I do it (the most safe way)?

Hardware in use: Compaq PIII- 1GHZ, Geforce 4000, 256mb, 80gb HD

there is no default port blocker in DeLi(cate). Do you use the iptables service?

No, it's *standard* so I don't get it..
There is nothing changed, the next thing I could do is check it with the laptop.
I hardly doubt that I can test it today (birthday).

RE: Torrents and ports
I know what the problem is...
Nowadays it seems that a lot of torrentsites are using 'magnet' links (which req. Transmission 1.80 or higher).
With older torrent files there is no problem.

B.t.w I've tried an online 'magnet-to-torrent' convertor, but without succes.

EDIT: This site ( http://magnet2torrent.com/ ) seems to work, but very and very slowly.... sometimes I get 1 seed from the 27 Confused

RE: Torrents and ports

No, Transmission have the same issues.
A lot of torrentsites has changed the last couple of months and they're using magnet links, for privacy issues...
Even legal stuff are using them now... Confused

The link that I posted works (it creates a working torrent from a magnet link, but it's very very slow... I've tested with a simple pdf file from 9 mb and the highest speed was 5.6 kb/s normally it's 100 times higher. But better slow than non-available..

Newer Transmission version (1.80 or higher) supports magnet links.
But I don't know if the version that Delicate is using can be (easily) upgraded.

I think it's welcome, cause people may getting confused by 'not working torrents'.

RE: Torrents and ports
From the problem with FBI and MegaUpload I use always torrents, so I think that is important fix the magnet-link problem.
