Just playing around with WindowMaker and Delicate...

RE: Show your desktop - tavvva - 06-03-2012 11:28 AM

It seems we need to add WindowMaker support in the menu generator, right? Smile

Hahaha...
I hardly knows how things work with WindowMaker (lack of reading) but it has some awesome features.. Zooming and flipping windows (who needs compiz?)
A standard wallpaper setting program, but I found a bug Confused If you choose 'Configure Window Maker' from the right mousebutton an error occures. But when you click it from the dock it works normally.
Perhaps there are more issues that I don't know, my experience with WindowMaker is almost zero... But it's very nice to play with..

Changed the JWM setup a bit. Another wallpaper, wbar on the right side and a big clock on the desktop. Who needs MATE ? Tongue

Wish there could be an easy way to make it official ...

It's just JWM Tongue
But I'm using a 'custom' configurationfile, instead of the standard..
The bar on the left is wbar 1.1 (I had issues with newer versions, but this is working allright) with the Faenzia icons instead of the standard icons.
The big clock and calendar is a small .conkyrc file

The most simple way is to make an 'official' package, is to make a JWM package that after installing it, remove the original configuration file and replace it by the custommade and perhaps installing other stuff. In this case I have some extra bells and whistles in it (The bits and pieces doc, which I use for making PKGBUILD files). And I'm using esetroot (which is in the repo) as a wallpapersetter.

It's a bit work but I believe that this isn't much uglier than a standard XFCE or MATE based distro Wink

Minor update:
I've placed a screenshot from this setup in the Dutch Ubuntu Forum.
Almost the same as above, but from a cold boot and just 28mb in use..
Some Dutch comments Smile

"fantastisch stukje werk! Ziet er erg professioneel uit en dat met 28mb(?) RAM. "
Translation: Fantastic piece of job! Looking very professional and that with only 28mb(?) RAM.

ยจ@Theo: En op welke basis rust dat moois, Debian Squeeze ?"
Translation: What is the base from this beauty? Debian Squeeze?

Ofcourse I told them that it was Delicate Linux Smile

yes .... it's always possible to do a package for that, but you would need icons replacements for everything :] so ... the solution would be not flexible/universal enough ... but if anybody wants to achieve the same look, I'm not against any package, that could introduce it ...

You're right and it's no beginners stuff I'm afraid...
It's not that it's too difficult, but.... a bit experience is welcome :]
Perhaps it's a good idea to introduce JWM in the repo?

In that case they can copy the jwmconfig and icons by hand...
Normally it shouldn't be that difficult.. Lot's of people are busy to change the look and feel with Window Managers...
I could zip it and store it with a simple readme file..
It's ofcourse an example and they have to edit it, unless they're using the same programs as me :] But that isn't a problem the config speaks a lot for itselves.. so it's easy to edit.
